Since then, Upsolve has become the nation’s most visited nonprofit financial education site. Upsolve.org educates approximately 2.9 million people a year with over 2,000 articles on an array of debt and credit topics. Upsolve’s free bankruptcy filing tool has been used by 14,000 families to relieve $600 million in debt. Upsolve users are disproportionately Black and Brown with an average household income of $25,000. Upsolve is expanding from bankruptcy to bankruptcy prevention with Upsolve Assist, an AI-powered Financial Assistant for low-income Americans. Upsolve Assist helps you understand your best path out of debt and poor credit and, wherever possible, takes action for you. Upsolve’s funders include the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Hewlett Foundation, the Robin Hood Foundation, and the Legal Services Corporation.


Position Overview:

Upsolve is seeking a passionate and skilled User Experience (UX) Researcher & Designer to join our team. The UX Researcher & Designer will play a critical role in shaping the user experience across all our digital platforms, ensuring our tools are cohesive, intuitive, accessible, and effective in helping low-income Americans overcome debt and rebuild credit. You will be responsible for understanding the needs and behaviors of our users through comprehensive research and analysis, and using these insights to inform the design and development of our products.


In this role, you will conduct user interviews, usability testing, and other research methods to gather valuable insights. These insights will inform your design work, which includes creating wireframes, prototypes, and user interface designs. You will work collaboratively with our Content team to ensure that our educational materials and product interfaces align with user needs and preferences. Additionally, you will partner with the User Advocacy and Engineering teams to incorporate user feedback into product improvements and translate design concepts into functional, high-quality products. By advocating for user-centric design principles and best practices, you will help us create products that are not only functional but also easy to use.


Key Responsibilities:

  • User Research: Conduct user interviews and usability testing to gather insights on user needs, preferences, and pain points.
  • Analysis: Analyze user feedback and data to inform design decisions and improve overall user satisfaction.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Content team, User Advocacy team, and Engineering team to translate user insights into actionable improvements.
  • Design: Create wireframes, prototypes, and user interface designs that enhance the user experience and align with our brand.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for user-centric design principles and best practices within the organization.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years of experience in UX research and design.
  • Proven track record of conducting user interviews and translating insights into product improvements.
  • Strong design skills, with experience in wireframing, prototyping, and user interface design.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Figma.
  • A portfolio showcasing your UX research and design work.
