We are looking for a Staff Backend Software Engineer to continue to build and support our core platform and APIs, as well as lead new implementation efforts and teams as we scale our business. This position requires critical thinking and technical mastery to build out federated microservices and manage integrations with both technology and enterprise partners supporting the Insurtech industry. We are looking for a highly reliable and very disciplined person who will remain committed to the progress of our team and our company. Responsibilities:

·       Analyze user needs and develop software solutions.

·       Work with the product owners to determine specification requirements.

·       Write maintainable, well-documented code with extensive test coverage.

·       Recommend and perform software upgrades to optimize operational efficiency.

·       Collaborate with other developers to design and optimize code.

·       Build high performance and scalable server-side technologies.

·       Participate in larger discussions about overall technology platform and systems architecture.

·       Drive and enforce engineering standards and be a strong technical mentor.

Qualifications:

·       8+ years of professional software development experience shipping high-volume, scalable applications on a service-oriented architecture.

·       Expert level understanding of Typescript and JavaScript.

·       Experience with React.

·       Expert level knowledge of RESTful APIs and/or tRPC.

·       Experience with Node.js frameworks such as Express or Fastify.

·       Experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.

·       Familiarity with non-relational databases such as MongoDB, Elastic Search or Redis.

·       Experience with AWS; specifically, Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS.

·       Understanding of architectural patterns of large, high-scale web applications.

·       Expert knowledge of test automation frameworks and experience in test authoring.

·       Proven ability to self-manage but also work as part of a close-knit agile team.

Salary

$175,000 - $190,000 per year
