At ReadySet, we are building a database cache with zero integration cost - just swap your connection string and take read latencies from ~100’s of ms to under a ms while reducing costs. It precomputes the results of prepared statements (i.e. parameterized SQL queries) and incrementally updates these results over time as the underlying data in your database changes.

ReadySet is wire-compatible with MySQL and Postgres, so it can be integrated with your existing application without code or database changes– ReadySet makes it easy for developers to build performant web, analytical, and internal applications regardless of whether they’re deployed to a single region or around the world.

About this role

We’re looking for Senior/Staff Software Engineers who are experts in one or more of the following: database internals, stream processing, SQL compilers, and SQL query optimization and are excited to continue expanding their depth of knowledge in these fields. In this role, you will scope, design, and build parts of the ReadySet distributed SQL cache. 

In your day-to-day work, you’ll iterate on and build production-level code with a growing user base, robust design structure, and rigorous code quality. As a part of a small and growing team, you’ll also work cross-functionally to help scope out product requirements, respond to new customer needs, and develop code to solve complex problems.

As a part of our engineering team, you’ll collaborate with other team members to contribute to process improvements, give product and architectural feedback, and work towards making ReadySet more robust and feature-complete. 

ReadySet is a Rust shop, so we are looking for candidates who would also be interested in becoming an expert in writing industrial-grade software in a modern systems programming language that was deemed most beloved by StackOverflow developer surveys for 6 years in a row.

Responsibilities 

• In this role, you will be hands-on building a significant portion of the system, while also guiding others towards making sound engineering choices in design and code.
• The systems you architect and build will be robust, scalable, supportable and manageable.
• You will use your proficiency in speech and written communication to influence others, and establish engineering processes and guidelines.
• Additionally, you will interact with leaders and colleagues across the company and work collaboratively on projects.
• Being a thought leader in the domain, you will blog about and evangelize the amazing engineering systems that you and your colleagues are building.

You may be a good fit if you have…

• 8+ years of hands-on software engineering experience and 6+ years of experience working on database internals including relational data, query processing, query optimization, or caching.
• Considerable expertise in compilers, systems programming, concurrency, caching, batching, etc.
• Fluency in one of the following: C, C++, Rust, Golang, or other systems programming languages.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Benefits and Salary

We have raised over $28m from great VC funds and angels to fuel our growth and help us take our product from an ambitious research prototype to general availability. The salary range for this role is $180,000 - 220,000 USD per year. This salary range may include multiple levels. Your level is based on our assessment of your interview performance and experience, which you can always ask the hiring manager about to understand in more detail.
