Position Overview

The Senior Accountant position is a part-time, remote/hybrid position. The ideal candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, exemplary communication and time management skills, and relevant experience successfully collecting, managing, and using information accurately. The Senior Accountant position will work under the supervision of the Director of Finance.

Programs Overview

As the organization’s Senior Accountant position you will be responsible for recording and managing all financial accounts and records, performing manual journal entries including reconciliation and monitoring of assigned general ledger accounts. The Senior Accountant position will also manage other accounting assignments necessary to produce financial reports and assist with the budget and annual audit.


Detailed Job Description

The primary areas of responsibility and duties of the Senior Accountant position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Will work directly with the Director of Finance to manage and oversee daily Accounting Operations.
  • Responsible for the preparation of month-end journal entries in the general ledger.
  • Verifies correct mapping of transactions from ERP system to the GL
  • Supports period-end close activities, ensuring close deadlines are met.
  • Review and research discrepancies in general ledger accounts and escalate issues as needed.
  • Assists in recording and reconciling company credit card activity and team member reimbursement transactions.
  • Partners with internal departments to provide information timely and accurately.
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable and invoicing activities.
  • Responsible for reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts.
  • Assists with the preparation of requested audit schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Assessing internal controls, including risk assessments, auditing, and verifying documents.
  • Assisting with budget preparation and preparing monthly budget variance analysis.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Desired Skills, Experience, and Characteristics

The Senior Accountant candidate should have the following skills, education and experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or another related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and accounting.
  • 2+ years of Accounting experience in a non-profit Organization.
  • Proven ability to be analytical and to understand transactions.
  • Must know generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and well-organized.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Proficient with QuickBooks and Bill.com
  • Strong MS Office skills, specifically Excel.


Pay and Benefits

The pay rate for this position will be $25.00 an hour. This role will begin at 40 hours per month (10 hours per week) with the possibility for growth.

 

Flexible work hours. This position can be an ideal 2nd job. Retired accountants are encouraged to apply.


Work Environment

This is a remote position; working alongside the Admin & Operations team members.
