Position Summary:
CVS Accountable Care relies upon insightful data to power our systems and solutions. We’re seeking an experienced data scientist to deliver insights on a daily basis. The ideal candidate will have mathematical and statistical expertise, along with natural curiosity and a creative mind. While mining, interpreting, and cleaning our data, this person will be relied on to ask questions, connect the dots, and uncover hidden opportunities for realizing the data’s full potential in serving the clinical, utilization, and financial goals of value-based care. As part of a team of specialists, the data scientist will “slice and dice” data using various methods and elevate data to insights and actions that will support program outcomes.
The Principal Data Scientist will:
– Collaborate with product design, data engineering teams, clinical leaders and provider partners to develop an understanding of needs
– Research and devise innovative analytical models for data analysis
– Optimize analytics tools for effectiveness and simplicity
– Clearly communicate findings to all stakeholders
– Enable smarter business processes by using analytics for meaningful insights
– Keep current with technical and industry developments
Key Responsibilities include:
– Serve as data strategist to identify and integrate new datasets that can be leveraged through our analytic capabilities, and work closely across matrixed engineering, analytics, technology, and clinical teams in the development of data products
– Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables
– Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine big-data stores; perform data and error analysis to improve models; clean and validate data for uniformity and accuracy
– Analyze data for trends and patterns, and interpret data with clear objectives in mind and to deliver actionable insights from the data.
– Implement analytical models in production by collaborating with product owners, vendors, developers and engineers.
Required Qualifications:
- 7 or more years of experience in data science including experience with data mining, mathematics, and statistical analysis
- 5 or more years of in pattern recognition and modeling (advanced)
- 5 or more years of experience with Power BI and/or Tableau, SQL, and programming languages (ex: Java/Python/R, SAS)
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in statistics, applied mathematics, or related discipline
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools including Excel & PowerPoint
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic agile and highly-matrixed organization, and to manage competing concurrent priorities & projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- Advanced degree in health related field a plus.
- 2 or more years of project management experience
- Professional certification (e.g. CAP, DASCA, SAS, Azure, others)
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in statistics, applied mathematics, or related discipline
- Master’s degree in related field or equivalent experience preferred with – advanced degree in health related field a plus.
