About the role:

We’re looking for a mid level Engineer to join our team at Unit21. You will be driving new features from end-to-end through prototyping, validation, implementation, launch, and continuous iteration to help our customers fight financial crime. We have a highly customizable interface, and ingest a high quantity of data (up to 2 million transactions/second), leading to challenging technical problems and complex product decisions. The ideal candidate will have experience working cross-functionally with design, product, and engineering to tackle tough design and product problems.

Our engineering team is low process and high autonomy - we emphasize product decision-making and prioritization by folks who own the work. As a result, you’ll be expected to become familiar with how the product works, get into the mindset of the customer, and influence the decisions made regarding what you build. Additionally, you’ll have a significant say in what you work on, and will be expected to prioritize the most meaningful work for the company. What you’ll be doing: 

• Developing elegant software solutions from Database to Front End for our Case Management product.
• Writing maintainable, well tested code while following existing coding patterns.
• Making autonomous decisions on implementation and UX interactions.
• Participating in on-call rotations where you’ll handle customer bugs and outages.
• Becoming immersed in our product and understanding how customers engage with it.
• Reviewing peers code identifying bugs, potential edge cases and optimizations.
• Keeping an open mind and learning from others.
• Participating in a SCRUM environment with daily touch points with team members.

What we’re looking for:

• Experience building and debugging complex systems in a team environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Self-awareness and a desire to continually improve.
• Ability to work independently and has strong debugging skills.
• Familiar with software engineering best practices such as unit testing and code reviews, design, and documentation.
• Understanding and experience with RESTful APIs and client server interactions.
• Proficiency with front-end languages such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
• Proficiency with server-side languages such as Python, Ruby, and Java.
• Proficiency with different types of data stores such as Postgres, Redis, MongoDB.

Bonus Points 

• Professional experience with React, Typescript, React Query, and Jest
• Professional experience with Python, Flask, Sqlalchemy, and Postgres

Compensation:

The standard base pay range for this role is $149,000 - $175,000 Annually. This base pay range does not include variable compensation including potential commissions, bonuses or other financial or equity incentives.
