As a Blockchain Engineer at VALR, your primary purpose is to design, develop, and maintain blockchain-based systems to ensure the security, efficiency, and scalability of VALR’s platform. You will be instrumental in driving innovation, implementing best practices, and optimising performance within our blockchain infrastructure.
What will you be doing:
- Design and implement blockchain solutions to enhance the functionality and security of our platform.
- Develop and maintain blockchain nodes for various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum.
- Develop and deploy NodeJS workers within our infrastructure to interface seamlessly with blockchain nodes’ HTTP or WebSocket interfaces.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate blockchain technology into existing systems and processes.
- Ensure the reliability and performance of blockchain infrastructure through continuous monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Manage cloud infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Utilize RabbitMQ and other messaging protocols for efficient communication between system components.
- Implement monitoring and analytics tools such as Grafana and Prometheus to track system metrics and performance.
- Proactively subscribe and engage with relevant Discord, Telegram, and Github channels to foster strong relationships within the web3 community. These connections will serve as valuable resources for swiftly resolving issues related to Blockchain node execution, ensuring the smooth operation of VALR’s platform.
What we look for in you:
- Practical experience is more relevant than a formal qualification.
- Extensive experience with NodeJS, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
- 6+ years of experience working in production environments.
- Proficiency in managing blockchain nodes for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other cryptocurrencies.
- Strong understanding of blockchain principles, protocols, and cryptographic techniques.
- Advanced understanding of security principles and practices.
- Familiarity with Solidity and Typescript.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing scalable and secure blockchain solutions.
- Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate within cross-functional teams.
- Passion for cryptocurrencies and alternative financial systems.
- A natural inclination to help people and the ability to explain technical details simply.
