The Technical SEO is all about improving a website’s technical aspects to increase its pages’ ranking in the search engines. Making a website faster, easier to crawl, and more understandable for search engines are the pillars of technical optimization. This role will be responsible for monitoring and resolving any issues with the crawling, rendering or indexation of weedmaps.com. In addition to these traditional technical SEO tasks, the Technical SEO will work closely with the Engineering, Product and Design team, in order to provide technical SEO Q&A on releases and product launches. The Technical SEO will be responsible for monitoring and resolving any issues with the crawling, rendering or indexation of weedmaps.com. In addition to these traditional technical SEO tasks, the Technical SEO will work closely with the EPD (Engineering, Product and Design) team in order to provide technical SEO Q&A on releases and product launches.


The impact you’ll make:

  • Examine SiteBulb crawls for changes to pages/templates and filing bug tickets.
  • Run quarterly Core Web Vitals and Web Performance reports and filing and following up with necessary tickets.
  • Perform full technical SEO audit and presentation and tickets every 3 months.
  • Perform Rendering Audit, Tickets & Presentation monthly.
  • Examine crawl logs (in ENG tool like DataDog) daily to ensure proper crawling.
  • Perform Crawl Audit, Tickets and Presentation monthly.
  • Maintain Indexation of Weedmaps.com.
  • Perform Indexation Audit, Tickets and Presentation monthly.
  • Provide Technical SEO QA/QE to the Engineering, Product and Design team.
  • Attend and represent the SEO team in cross team meetings.
  • Work deeply with the Engineering, Product and Design team to ensure product releases are in line with organizational Technical SEO requirements.
  • Review competitive analysis from SEO Coordinator quarterly and ticket/task creation of technical SEO tickets.
  • Perform additional Technical SEO tasks as assigned.


What you’ve accomplished:

  • Minimum seven years of direct Technical SEO experience with large, enterprise level websites
  • Expert understanding of how search engines crawl, render and index websites
  • Proficient with the tools necessary to perform technical SEO tasks especially SiteBulb and Screaming Frog crawlers, Google Search Console, Log File tools, etc
  • Deep understanding of search engine algorithms and how they work
  • Familiarity with the technical development process
  • Seven years experience with JavaScript, HTML and CSS and how they work together to impact technical SEO across websites
  • Expert level understanding of the basics of web performance from an engineering perspective
  • Experience working with a product organization, especially providing QA/QE to releases
  • Experience with successful collaboration with multiple departments including engineering and product
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • Excellent ability to communicate and present internally on technical SEO
  • Passionate about data driven technology that drives the bottom line


The base pay range for this position is $100,000.00 to $131,000.00 per year
