Luna Lux is a premier lighting design, AV design, media production, and equipment rental and procurement company founded in 2012. We provide lighting and AV design services for museum exhibitions, theme parks, live events, activation, and experiential industries. We also offer technical labor and equipment rentals in North America with a specific focus on live events. 


Our design studio and central warehouse are located in Dallas, TX. We have representation in Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., allowing us to serve North America from coast to coast. 


In addition to our Lighting and AV services, we also offer Media Production. That service includes concept design, content design, and media production.

Job Description

The Motion Designer 2D/3D will be responsible for creating imagery, motion graphics and animations as needed. Motion Designer 2D/3D reports to the Director of Media Production. The Motion Designer will have experience creating presentations, storyboards, imagery, motion graphics and animation for the live entertainment industry, including but not limited to theater, concerts, broadcast, theme parks, etc. The Motion Designer is a creative thinker and problem solver who can work independently as well as collaboratively in client-facing environments.


The Motion Designer will develop strong relationships with a team and across departments, collaborating effectively and helping shape a creative and tight knit culture. 

The ability to understand and integrate feedback is important to succeed in this role. 

This is a role where you are ultimately expected to take ownership for the timings and deliverables of your projects, delivering work to a high standard to meet deadlines, and communicating clearly on any issues or problems that arise.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Organize and create project deliverables
  • Create or collaborate on presentations, storyboards and animatics
  • Perform QAQC review on all project submittals
  • Travel for projects as needed (Travel estimated at 20%)
  • Provide onsite services and support as needed
  • Utilize storyboards, animatics, scripts, outlines to create still and moving imagery as directed by team leaders
  • Exporting, encoding or transcoding of video files for playback
  • Continue professional development and education for emerging technologies and technical industry standards


Qualifications

Experience and Skills:

  • After Effects proficiency, as well as the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop and Illustrator. Proficiency in C4D, 3DS Max, Maya, Unreal or other 3D applications is a plus.
  • Experienced with Concepts and Animation, Storyboarding and presentations
  • Experienced with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro
  • Proven track record in delivering outstanding motion design projects for various brands and clients, as well as personal, showcased in a carefully curated portfolio. 
  • Updated knowledge of industry trends for Creative & Motion Design.
  • Strong attention to detail, 
  • Keeping cool under pressure.
  • Collaborative mindset, thriving in a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills for continuous professional growth.
  • Experience with cell animation is not mandatory, but can be a bonus.

Requirement Capabilities:

  • Theater, Film/TV, Animation, Theme Park, and/or Museum Design Experience
  • Working knowledge of theatrical and cinematic design, and technical knowledge of specific disciplines, including methods of construction
  • Understanding of the creative process and the development of a creative design
  • General knowledge of various video formats and codecs
  • Ability to deliver on a Project’s established scope, schedule and budget
  • Demonstrated commitment to on-going personal education
  • Good understanding of current technology and industry standards for all aspects of media content production
  • Ability to work flexible hours - occasional nights, weekends, holidays, travel
  • Possess excellent communication skills; highly motivated; can accept direction easily
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Desired Capabilities:

  • Theater, Art, Design, Architecture work experience. This includes design for museums, attractions, retail spaces, restaurant spaces, display areas, landscape, facades and area development.
  • Ability to work closely with all relevant staff to prioritize, organize, instruct and problem-solve during installation, content integration and programming.


Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000
